The Sailor’s Return pub in the village is a half-mile  walk and offers a large selection of local real ales and home-cooked food at reasonable prices. Children are welcomed in the eating areas and the garden.

We also recommend the Weld Arms at East Lulworth, a cosy, thatched village pub with a warm ambience and excellent food.

The Countryman and Red Lion pubs at Winfrith Newburgh are both excellent and only four or five minutes by car. There is a village store, post office, garage and hair salon in Winfrith.

A stroll through the valleys to the beaches at Durdle Door takes about 35 minutes. Lulworth Cove is a further 15 minutes walk along the coastal path or beach. Both are less than10 minutes by road.

Walkers will enjoy the quiet valleys which stretch south and south west to the coast. The trackways are grass or gravel, according to the prevailing farming activities. The tractor ruts on a few short level stretches can be muddy in the wet but it is always easy to walk between them or to one side.  We'll dry your clothes and you can hose off your boots by the door. Sheep and cattle are often in the valleys and on the hillsides. Crops are grown on the hilltops. There are several ancient barrows and long disused farm dwellings. The views from the top of the hills between Limekiln and the cliffs are spectacular reaching inland as far as the hills beyond Yeovil and Blandford to the Isle of Wight and Portland Bill.

Other local attractions include The Tank Museum, Monkey World and Lawrence of Arabia’s Cottage at Bovington, across the Frome valley and less than ten minutes by road.
