If you use the postcode in your GPS it will take you to the village green because the whole village has the same postcode. In this case, take the road east towards Winfrith. After about 1/4 mile, turn right up the track by the 30mph signs, you'll see our sign.
The minor road between Bere Regis and Wool, passing Monkey World, is avoided on some SatNavs because it is officially an Army road. However this excellent road has not been closed in living memory, so your best and quickest routes are:
From the Blandford by-pass follow the A354 towards Dorchester. After 3.5 miles (5.6km) turn left onto the minor road to Bere Regis via Winterbourne Kingston, then turn right onto the A31. Continue as next:
From Wimborne A31
Follow the A31 to where it ends at the roundabout just before Bere Regis. Take the first roundabout exit to Bere Regis and at the next roundabout take the second exit to Monkey World and Wool. Pass Monkey World and join the A352 at the next roundabout. Take the second exit to Wool and cross the level crossing. Continue as next:
From Wareham, Wool, Weymouth and Dorchester
Head for Winfrith Newburgh on the A352. Turn
by the Red Lion pub into Water Lane and drive through Winfrith village for
three-quarters of a mile. At the sharp left bend by the Church, cross with
caution into the lane straight ahead, signposted to East and West Chaldon.
Continue along the lane for a further half mile or so to the 30 mph, 'P' and
Chaldon Herring (East Chaldon) village signs.
Turn left onto the bridleway, passing our house sign and the small car parking area. Continue past the cottage at the turn and continue uphill for a further 150 yards, then turn right just before the farm gate at the top of the slope into the parking area. Please park on the left facing towards the valley. Up to five cars may need to park along here, so please park considerately and leave the area in front of the garage free for access and turning.
From Lulworth Cove
Take the road signposted to Winfrith Newburgh. After about three miles enter Winfrith.
At the sharp right-hand bend turn left into the lane to East and West Chaldon. Then proceed as above.
